Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN)

For patients suffering from diabetes, approximately 40% will develop diabetic peripheral neuropathy, a debilitating condition that prevents them from being independent and doing the things they love. When high blood sugar occurs consistently over time, it can cause nerve damage, often starting in the legs and feet. Everyone experiences it differently, but DPN is commonly described as a sensation of burning, tingling, itching or numbness.

Conventional medical management can be effective for some people, though prescription drug treatments often result in additional side effects. For those who don’t respond to conventional therapies, walking and standing can become very difficult. Some patients report that the pain interrupts their sleep or prevents them from exercising. Just preparing a meal in the kitchen can be a challenge with painful diabetic neuropathy.

If you are interested in a nondrug treatment for DPN, we are pleased to be first in the Wichita metro market to offer patients a therapy called HFX™ Solution that was recently approved by the FDA as a treatment for DPN. HFX™ provides an alternative to prescription medication treatments which often have a host of other side effects. This treatment delivers small electrical pulses delivered in the spinal cord designed to block pain signals sent to the brain. This 56-minute webinar features a deep dive into an FDA-approved, non-drug treatment by Nevro, the medical device company and creator of the HFX™ Solution.
